The Question I Have Been Continuously Asking After This Gung-Ho Semester: Where Has All The Time Gone?

Hi everyone!  I have missed you all so much!!!  I can’t believe (and I’m cringing at the thought) that it’s been almost a month since my last post.  But, as I’ve mentioned, the holiday season gets quite busy in our family and throw in a bizzaro semester at school due to Superstorm Sandy with finals right smack in the middle, I was stressing and put myself on “lock-down” until finals were over, and by that time, it was Christmas!

One thing I realized about myself, which is a good thing in some ways, is that I take my schooling very seriously and am quite competitive with myself (maybe even a bit extreme-ish).  This is a complete 180 from my undergrad days.  But, it paid off and I got A’s in my classes!  Yaaay!!  But here’s the kicker, I felt guilty if I focused my time or energy on anything else.  So blogging or yoga-ing took a backseat because anytime I tried to write or relax, I felt like my books were hauntingly calling my name, telling me I will fail if I don’t open them (totally fear based) which caused me more stress because I wanted/needed to be writing and practicing yoga too!  It was not an upward spiral to say the least.  Not to mention, by the end of the semester it was impossible for me to “fail” because I was doing well all along.  I could have eased up a tad but I’m not someone who can open a book, read it and remember (I bow down to those who can).  I have to work and study really hard.  Pulling off those A’s were incredibly gratifying and exciting after all that stress and hard work.  This was the toughest semester for me so far with microbiology and organic chemistry.  Those two courses can make or break pre-health care professionals and I was completely driven to do as well as I could because I’m applying to some of the best master’s programs in nutrition very soon.  So like I said, from an academic stand-point, great stuff!  From a yogi/health stand-point: stressing = bad.

Anyway, after all that (and it literally feels like all that mumbo-jumbo) here I am!  And here we are!  It’s great to be writing again, and reading/catching up with everything that has been going on in the blogging world and practicing yoga.  I feel like me again, not a crazy, strung-up, book worm.  It’s 2013 and I’ve got a feeling (cue the Black Eyed Peas) that this is going to be a great year!  Phillip and I spent New Years Eve with some besties.  We talked about 2012 being a huge year with life-changing events for all of us, in some way or another.  For me, I am changing my career, taking a new life path, making it happen and leading the fulfilled life that I want to lead.  I am so excited to see what 2013 will bring and looking forward to seeing what good things come for all of you!  Some think the number 13 means that it’s time to hide under a rock somewhere, but I think this 13 is going to be the best yet!

I have spent the last week contemplating, thinking, surmising, planning, plotting……thesaurus, anyone? 😉 And have come up with some good stuff that I think you will all enjoy.  My mother, the wonderful, encouraging person that she is, got me a pretty sweet video camera for Christmas, much easier to use than my iPhone, especially since it comes with a stand!  Woohoo!  So look out world, I’m getting my “TV personality” ready for you all!  Also, now that the holidays are over, I’m planning on bringing back the food exploration series as well as some tasty recipes that I hope you like.  It’s cold in the northern hemisphere, so there’s no better time than now to hunker down and cook some good food.

So here’s to the best year yet!  I hope and wish for the very best for all of you.  Sending you lots of love and hugs and warm wishes in this cold season.  I leave you with some photos from our holiday season.  Cheers!
